Introducing the “Voices” series!

I am very excited to launch this collection of 19 paintings, all done in encaustic mixed media. This series is a departure from my work of the last few years -perhaps it is a result of the turmoil the world is going through, or maybe it is just a season in my journey. These works spoke volumes to me about my life and walk of faith. I hope they speak to you as well.

Watch the video below to see how this series began…

The series began as a result of an online workshop I took this spring with the fabulous UK artist, Karen Stamper. The course had us working in a 15 foot concertina sketchbook with all kinds of media such as charcoal, graphite, inks, coloured conte, collage and acrylic paint. I loved this process so much, I decided to take what I learned and apply it to a series of work on panel. I added encaustic paint to the process, as I hadn't worked in encaustic for a long time, and really missed it. As I was working, the paintings began to speak to me, and I followed where they lead, hence the title of the series “Voices”. Many of the paintings have stories that were personally revealed to me relating to life and faith.

As everyone sees artwork individually based on their personal experience, I am excited to hear what stories are revealed to you as you observe the work!
